The nine, in full
Simien Mountains4,550 m
A national park and UNESCO World Heritage Site in northern Ethiopia: sheer escarpments, jagged peaks and high plateaus where gelada monkeys and the rare Walia ibex live. Ras Dashen, the country’s highest summit, rises here.
Wonchi3,450 m
A volcanic crater lake west of Addis Ababa, ringed by steep green walls and terraced farmland. Small islands dot the water, one of them home to an old monastery, and hot springs rise in the valley below.
Lalibela2,630 m
A highland town famous for its eleven medieval churches carved out of the living rock, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is still a place of pilgrimage. Bete Giyorgis, cut in the shape of a cross, is the best known.
Addis Ababa2,355 m
Ethiopia’s capital, one of the highest in the world and the seat of the African Union: avenues, markets and hillside neighbourhoods in constant change. It is also our base, on Meskel Square.
Wollo2,030 m
A highland region of north-central Ethiopia. On the shore of Lake Hayq, papyrus tankwa boats wait by the reeds, and the old monastery of Hayq Estifanos stands on its peninsula.
Fasilides1,994 m
Fasil Ghebbi, the royal enclosure of Gondar and a UNESCO World Heritage Site: castles, palaces and baths built from the 17th century, when Gondar was the capital of the Ethiopian empire. Emperor Fasilides founded it.
Winding Road
Mountain roads and highland trails across the Simien range, lined with giant lobelias: switchbacks, open horizons and fast-changing light.
Erta Ale Lava Lake613 m
A shield volcano in the Danakil Depression whose summit crater holds a lava lake, one of the very few that have stayed active for decades. Visits are usually made at night, from a base camp in the desert.
Afar−125 m
The Danakil Depression, one of the lowest and hottest places on Earth, more than 100 metres below sea level. Camel caravans still carry blocks of salt cut from the flats, and the coloured springs of Dallol lie nearby.

We have an extensive network of skilled professionals in the local film industry. From talented actors and crew members to experienced technicians and production teams, we can connect you with the right people to bring your vision to life.
Filed and followed with the relevant authorities
Navigating the permitting process can be complex and time-consuming. We have established strong relationships with local authorities and organizations: we handle the paperwork, communicate with the relevant authorities, and ensure all necessary permissions are obtained efficiently.

We take pride in facilitating filming in a diverse range of stunning locations throughout Ethiopia, from the Simien Mountains to the Danakil. Location permits are handled in-house, site by site.
